Who we are…
Bradshaw Honey Farms is a family owned and operated beekeeping business that was started in 1958 by Howard Bradshaw. After finding a swarm of bees on a bush in his front yard, Howard started his first bee hive in 1949 in Hawaii while still in high school. He immediately went down to Sears and Roebuck and purchased a bee hive kit. Through his passion, hard work, and love of bees – his hobby grew into a full blown business in 1958 that provided for his wife and five children. His oldest son, David, loved the bees and started helping his father at a very early age. David purchased his first 200 hives while still in high school and worked side by side with this dad learning the business and increasing the number of hives until they each had about 2,000 colonies. In 1997, Howard sold his 2,000 colonies to David, but continued to stay involved until he fully retired in 2014. Today, David runs the 4,000 colonies and the bees are kept in various locations throughout California for pollination and honey production.
Having been in business for over 60 years, we are always looking for ways to make our work more efficient. Our philosophy is to share our knowledge and experience with other beekeepers to improve the overall beekeeping industry. Through years of trial and error, we have developed a few tools that have proven to save us time and save our backs from the constant bending and lifting.
We have also developed Bee Botanical, which is a line of supplements to improve the overall sustainability of our bees. These products were designed with two things in mind: Promoting bee health and sustainability, as well as making it easier to care for bees. With over 60 years of beekeeping experience, the adaptation of Bee Botanical Products has been gradual and mindful. The idea behind Bee Botanical was to create a product that includes all of the benefits of natural plant oils and extracts; antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, antiseptic and antiparasitic. This blend can only enhance honey bee health as we strive for a healthy and productive hive.
What we do…
Pollination services enable the farmers to feed the world. Bees transfer pollen from one flower to another, so it can grow and produce food. Many of the country’s crop would not exist without the honey bee at bloom time.
